    Americorps Watershed Ambassadors

    The AmeriCorps New Jersey Watershed Ambassadors Program plays an important role in raising awareness of how human activities can affect water quality, especially in the most densely populated state in the nation. Each year, a new group of 20 Watershed Ambassadors engage with community members, channeling awareness into action.  The goals of the program are to promote watershed stewardship through education and direct community involvement, and to monitor stream health through performing visual and biological assessments. Individual AmeriCorps members are assigned to each of New Jersey's 20 watershed management areas (WMAs) to serve as "Watershed Ambassadors" to their watershed communities.     Antheil Elementary School Fifth Grade Garden Club


    The Antheil Garden Club is a group of enthusiastic fifth grade students, volunteer parents and dedicated teachers.  Together they maintain the school's lovely outdoor classroom located in the school's central courtyard.  The space includes a fish pond, bird feeding area, composting area, and several garden beds featuring assorted perennials.

    NJ Board of Public Utilities

    The NJ BPU is a NJ regulatory authority "with authority to oversee the regulated utilities, which in turn provide critical services such as natural gas, electricity, water, telecommunications and cable television."  The BPU offers residents of New Jersey incentives to conserve energy through the New Jersey Clean Energy Program.  The NJ Clean Energy Program for commercial users also offers significant financial incentives for commercial, industrial, and governmental customers to integrate energy efficient and renewable technologies into new construction, upgrades, and new cooling & heating equipment installations.  Many of the programs are designed to encourage use of renewable energy.

    D&R Greenway Land Trust

    The D&D Greenway Land Trust is a  non profit land conservancy that preserves land and cares for it.  They permanently preserve watershed lands and large-scale landscapes, thereby preventing the loss of open space to development.     The Lawrence Hopewell Trail is a 22+ mile, multipurpose recreational trail and transportation corridor that crosses public and private lands in Lawrence and Hopewell Townships.  The LHT grew out of a commitment to improving the quality of life for all who live or work in the two townships and Mercer County.  The trail supports an active, livable, and sustainable community with opportunities for alternative forms of transportation to reduce reliance on automobiles, as well as promote health and fitness, recreation, and outdoor education.
